The Story Behind Falselight

Falselight formed in Llanidloes, a small town in Mid-Wales, when three young musicians with the same musical influences realised they were all chasing something similar.

Growing up surrounded by music and inspired by bands that pushed rock beyond the mainstream, they wanted to create something heavier, more complex and more personal.

The connection started through school, shared musical interests and a mutual obsession with bands that refused to play it safe.

When an opportunity came up to play a support slot at their local football club with just four days notice, the band came together quickly — learning a five-song blues set to make it happen.

It was chaotic, loud and completely improvised.

But it worked.

That first gig sparked something bigger.

The band continued playing local pubs and venues, performing covers and building chemistry on stage while gradually shaping their own sound.

Each member brought a different background:

Will grew up deeply rooted in blues guitar before discovering progressive rhythm structures and bands like Silverchair.

Ted built his musical foundation through classic rock, developing a strong ear for melody and tone through years of listening and playing.

Jay grew up around heavy music and metalcore, eventually finding inspiration in drummers like Danny Carey and Josh Freese.

In November 2025, the band officially rebranded from their earlier name Treble to Falselight, marking a clear step into a new creative direction.

Soon after, they released their debut single in December 2025, working with producer Chris Hurst (Doctor Plague) — a moment that brought overwhelming support and confirmed the direction they were heading.

Complex • Heavy • Grunge

Falselight sit in a space that modern rock rarely touches.

Somewhere between the progressive weight of TOOL, the emotional edge of Silverchair, the depth of Opeth, and the gritty energy of Soundgarden, the band combine heavy riffs with unusual rhythms and melodic songwriting.

The result is a sound that feels both experimental and grounded — technical without losing its raw impact.

VALUES

The Serious Bit (briefly)

Falselight believe music should be honest, experimental and constantly evolving.

At this early stage of their journey, progress matters far more than perfection.

The goal is simple: write original music, develop their sound and connect with as many people as possible along the way.

If the music resonates with listeners and creates real connections, everything else will follow.
