Manchester has always been one of the UK's great music cities.
From tiny basement venues to world-famous stages, it's a city built on discovering bands before everyone else knows their name. That's exactly why Neighbourhood Festival has become one of our favourite events on the calendar.
With dozens of artists spread across venues throughout the city, it's less about headliners and more about finding your next favourite band.
Here are ten acts I'm excited about.
1. Red Rum Club
One of the biggest names on this year's lineup. Their unmistakable trumpet-led indie sound has taken them from Liverpool clubs to festival main stages, and they're guaranteed to draw one of the biggest crowds of the day.
2. M60
Manchester's own M60 continue to build serious momentum. Raw energy, huge choruses and hometown support make them one of the bands we're looking forward to seeing most.
3. The Guestlist
Another exciting local act with anthemic indie rock and plenty of buzz behind them. If you've never seen them live, Neighbourhood is the perfect opportunity.
4. John Denton
One of Greater Manchester's brightest emerging singer-songwriters. The Salford artist has already earned the Johnny Marr Award, signed with Modern Sky UK and is building a reputation for heartfelt songwriting that belies his age.
5. Florence Road
Already building a loyal following thanks to infectious songwriting and brilliant live performances. Expect this set to be packed.
6. Cherryholt
One of those artists who feels on the edge of something much bigger. Exactly the sort of discovery Neighbourhood Festival is known for.
7. Brogeal
High-energy, unpredictable and impossible to ignore. Live music is supposed to be fun, and Brogeal always deliver.
8. beaux
Thoughtful songwriting with huge potential. Definitely one I'll be trying to catch.
9. Bella Barbe
Fresh, confident and bringing something different to the lineup. I can't wait to see how the live show translates.
10. KEO
One of this year's headline artists and a perfect example of what Neighbourhood does so well, giving rising acts a platform before they become household names.
Why I Love Neighbourhood Festival
For me, festivals like this are about more than watching bands.
They're about discovering artists you've never heard before.
Meeting people who care about music.
Supporting independent venues.
Finding inspiration.
That's what Above Average is all about.
